AN EVENT in Keighley on Friday February 7 aims to improve the health of Keighley people with learning disabilities.
Those going along can have a free health check from GPs and other medical professionals as part of the Having Fun and Keeping Healthy event at Victoria Hall.
They can also try several mixed ability sports, meet new people, and talk to Social Prescribers and link workers who can offer a host of activities and services in the local area.
All GP surgeries in Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven are inviting their patients with learning disabilities to go along.
Bill Graham, the Community Innovation and Development worker at Holycroft Surgery in Keighley, said: “There will be light refreshments and a chance to speak to local health workers about any additional support needs.
“The event will be opened by members of Keighley People First, a wonderful charity that provides a wide range of activities and opportunities for individuals who have different abilities and skills.
“If you have a learning disability or care for someone who does, please come along.”
The session will run from 10.15am to 2.30pm. Email victoria.donnelly@bdct.nhs.uk or call her on 01274 497121 to book a place.
