AIREDALE Hospital’s cancer unit has received a £1,000 donation.

The cash has been presented through a Good Cause Award from Bettys and Taylors.

John Hennighan, who works for the company, nominated the department for an award in tribute to the care given to his partner Adele.

She received treatment on a mobile cancer care unit.

“We are so grateful to the whole team on the mobile unit – the chemo bus as I call it,” said Mr Hennighan. “Everyone was brilliant.”

The money will help fund new reclining chairs for the cancer unit and mobile facility.

Pat Dyminski – lead clinical nurse specialist for haematology, oncology and chemotherapy at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust – said: “We’re always grateful for donations like this – it’s really lovely that it has come thanks to a patient who had a good experience while under our care.”
