AN open day is being staged to showcase a village community building.

The event will spotlight facilities at Morton Institute.

And visitors will be able to learn more about the range of groups that meet there and the activities which take place.

The open day is being held at the institute – in Main Street – on Saturday, January 25, from 10am to 1pm.

Free refreshments will be available.

Karen Redhead, for the organisers, said: “If you’ve never been into the institute, now is your opportunity.

“The building, which has been refurbished to a high standard, is deceiving! It looks quite small from the front, but it has two side rooms opening up from the main hall and a good-sized kitchen.”

The institute is home to art classes, yoga, dance, pilates, Aikido, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts, the Women’s Institute, zumba, taekwondo, ballet and parent & toddler groups, and is available to hire for events.

There is also a Morton Meet, on Thursdays, between 2pm and 4pm, when people can call in for a cuppa and homemade cake. “People can just drop in during the session or bring your children from school to play and wind down,” said Karen.
