A CHEMICAL company has bolstered its engineering team with the recruitment of a new apprentice.

Josh Thorburn has joined Airedale Chemical at Cross Hills as an apprentice maintenance engineer.

He will work with the firm’s six-strong team responsible for maintenance, repairs and regular equipment checks at the Skipton Road site.

Josh, who lives at Haworth, has joined Airedale Chemical from Appris – which works with businesses to supply engineering and manufacturing apprenticeships.

“I attended an open evening held by Appris where I learned more about careers in engineering and manufacturing,” he said. “As a result, I was introduced to the team at Airedale Chemical and after an interview process was offered the position.”

Dan Fox, Airedale Chemical operations director, said Josh had made an “impressive” start and was involved in major projects.
