DOCTORS have arranged a public clinic to give people from across Keighley a free flu jab.

GPs from the Modality Partnership particularly hope to attract adults from the local Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities but the clinic is open to other people too.

The clinic will be at the Bangladeshi Community Association’s premises in Kensington Street, off Oakworth Road, on Thursday November 28 between 1pm and 4pm.

Modality spokesman Bill Graham said: “One of the main purposes of this event is to encourage flu vaccine uptake amongst the adult Bangladeshi and Pakistani community and to reinforce the fact the vaccine is culturally appropriate and does not include pork gelatine.

“All Keighley GP practices are taking part so we hope that any eligible Keighley patients can walk in and get the vaccine.”

Free flu jabs are available to anyone aged 65 and over, pregnant women, children and adults with weakened immune systems, and children and adults with an underlying health condition such as long-term heart or respiratory disease.
