A WOMAN who shouted abuse and swore at police outside a Steeton pub has admitted a charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court heard that police had been called to attend outside the Goat’s Head pub, in Skipton Road, at 12.07am on October 13 this year.

The court was told Michelle Steventon, 45, of Main Street, Cross Hills, had been sitting on a wall opposite the pub, refusing to leave, and that it was a third party who had called the police.

Officers arrived and spoke to her and she responded by shouting abuse at them and swearing.

Police asked her to leave and she went away, but returned and continued to be abusive. Police arrested her and she was charged the following day.

Steventon, who was not represented in court and had no previous convictions, said she had gone back to the pub after police asked her to leave because she was waiting for a minicab.

She admitted the offence at the first opportunity and was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £21 victim surcharge.
