MATT Maltese and Mahalia are both performing Leeds gigs this month.

Matt, hailed as one of the most exciting emerging British songwriters in years, is promoting his second album Krystal with a show at Hyde Park Book Club on November 25.

The 22-year-old, named as a “true prodigious talent” by NME magazine, recorded most of the latest album in his bedroom studio in south London.

The follow up to Matt’s ’s acclaimed 2018 debut Bad Contestant, Krystal promotes openness and freedom and explores a breakup.

He said: “I’ve never been one to waste a good crisis and I felt like I could direct all this lost, chaotically up-and-down energy into a big task like this.”

Mahalia, who performed at Glastonbury last summer, will play Beckett University in Leeds on November 22, with songs from her latest album Love & Compromise.

The rising British R&B artist and BRIT Award nominee recently played support on Ella Mai’s US tour come and release singles ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’.

Mahalia, signed to a record label at 13, has released a debut LP that is said to capture her playfully infectious, charisma, idiosyncratic storytelling and consciousness.
