CHRIS Cleverley will perform songs from latest album We Sat Back and Watched It Unfold at the Topic Folk Club.
The alt-folk songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist is promoting his second studio album at the club’s venue, the Merchant Bar in Peckover Street, on Thursday October 24.
A spokesman said: “The album addresses the 21st Century society’s most pertinent, challenging concerns through Cleverley’s incomparable brand of contemporary folk music.
“Diverse lyrical themes from deteriorating anxious minds through to damaging gender constructs blend with an experimental guitar fingerstyle, akin to Nic Jones and John Martyn.
“The bold, progressive song structures reflect influence of North American songwriters, showcasing Cleverley’s dynamic solo live performance, characterised by intricate acoustic guitar, Appalachian-style banjo and an engaging anecdotal style.”
