A HARD-hitting drama warning young people about the dangers of drink and drug-driving and speeding is being performed in Keighley.
The hour-long production, My Dead Friends, will be staged at the town’s college on Wednesday, September 18, as part of a district-wide tour.
Drama company The Riot Act is putting on the play, which will be followed by group discussions.
Other road safety issues covered will include the risks posed by mobile-phone distraction and failing to wear a seatbelt.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, the police and Bradford Council have commissioned the performances, which are aimed at 16-to-18-year-olds in schools and colleges. Statistics show the age group is particularly vulnerable when it comes to road accidents.
Chris Kirby, fire service area operations manager, said: “Far too many young people are killed or injured in driving incidents, so anything we can do which gets the message across about being safe, sensible and considerate of other road users has to be welcomed.”
