KEIGHLEY’S indoor beach is proving a hit.
The Keighley by the Sea initiative, launched last month, is attracting waves of people to the Airedale Shopping Centre.
As well as the indoor beach, there are buckets and spades, retro deckchairs and a giant deckchair ideal for photo opportunities, plus – new for this year – a ball pool.
The venture will continue throughout the school summer holidays, opening daily between 10am and 4pm.
Behind the initiative is Discover Keighley, which received backing for the project from the National Lottery Community Fund.
Paul Howard, manager of Keighley Business Improvement District, said: “The indoor beach always proves really popular with families – it gives them a chance to relax in between shopping and the kids can blow off a little steam too.”
Also in the shopping centre, visitors can follow a treasure map. Completed maps should be dropped off at Specsavers, to have the chance of winning a pair of designer sunglasses.
