KEIGHLEY’S international film festival RATMA is introducing a new category for movies linked to the Aire Valley. The River Aire Ten Minute Amateur film festival attracts entries from across the world in categories such as documentary, animation, comedy, drama and thriller.

The new category is for short films about life and work in the Aire Valley, and is entitled Made in the Aire Valley. Suggestions include local businesses celebrating their products, or people or companies based in the Aire Valley who want to share a film about wider topics.

A spokesman said: “We are inviting any amateur film makers and/or companies to submit their short films whether they are films about and filmed in the Aire Valley, are films about companies based in the Aire Valley or are films of other topics where part or all of the film production has been undertaken by a company or person(s) based in the Aire Valley.”

RATMA will this year be held in conjunction with the new Keighley Arts and Film Festival in October. Films will be shown at several pop-up cinemas around Keighley including the Airedale Shopping Centre, Creative Space comedy Picture House and the Exchange.

Locations for the pop-up cinemas will include Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley Creative Space, the Exchange, Riri’s Coffee House, the Picture House and Café Choux Choux to name a few.

Started as a student project in Keighley in 2012, the festival now receives hundreds of entries each year from up and coming filmmakers from all over the world who wish to air their films to a wider audience.

The deadline for entries is August 31, and submissions can be made via ratmafilmfestival.com.
