FAST & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw (12a) accelerates its way to the Picture House from Friday August 2.

Hulking lawman Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Jason Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7.

Since then theduo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.

But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever, these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

There have been a lot of Fast and Furious films in the franchise over the past few years but Hobbs & Shaw is a spin-off and not the ninth Fast and Furious film which is expected next year.

From the fantastic trailer this movie looks different from the rest of the series, but also keeping to that Fast And Furious formula we all love.

I’m also really excited to see Idris Elba, star of BBC crime thriller Luther, as the villain too: a fantastic addition to the franchise, if I don’t say so myself!

From speeding cars to angry birds...

The Angry Birds Movie 2 (U) flies into UK cinemas from Friday August 2.

Red, Chuck, Bomb and the rest of their feathered friends are surprised when a green pig suggests that they put aside their differences and unite to fight a common threat.

Aggressive birds from an island covered in ice are planning to use an elaborate weapon to destroy the fowl and swine way of life.

After picking their best and brightest, the birds and pigs come up with a scheme to infiltrate the island, deactivate the device and return to their respective paradises intact.

After the great success of the first Angry Birds movie I’m sure you’re all just as excited to see this one as me!

Now back to cars, but this other film has a little less action and is more of a comedy/drama.

The Art Of Racing In The Rain (PG), which is released in August 9, introduces us to Denny, a Formula 1 race car driver who understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate everyday life.

Besides his career, Denny has three loves of his life, his beautiful wife, their young daughter and his best friend, which is a dog that wants to be reincarnated into a human.

Interestingly this will also be the first 20th Century Fox film to be marketed on the Walt Disney Studios’ official website since the acquisition of the studio by the Walt Disney Company.

The next kids’ film to hit the big screen is Playmobil (U), also released on August 9.

A young woman travels to the animated world of Playmobil to find her missing younger brother, Charlie.

In order to bring her brother back home, the girl must embark on a thrilling adventure.

With voices from Jim Gaffigan, Daniel Radcliffe and Meghan Trainor, I’m sure the kids will love this one.
