POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a crash in which a woman was injured.

The accident – involving a white Volkswagen Golf and a red Citroen C1 ­– happened in Main Road, Eastburn, at the junction with Sutton Lane.

Firefighters from Keighley and Bingley used hydraulic cutting gear to free the trapped driver of the Citroen.

She was then taken to nearby Airedale Hospital for treatment.

Hospital staff on their way to work stopped at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 8.20am today, to assist.

Police say a 20-year-old man had been arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug offences.

The road was closed for about an-hour-and-a-half while emergency services dealt with the incident.

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or the manner in which the vehicles were being driven prior to the incident, to get in touch.
