AN annual run in aid of Manorlands is on course to be a record breaker.

Entries for the Solstice Saunter sold out three weeks ago and the event is set to raise £20,000 – the most in its four-year history.

The saunter, organised by the Airedale Dodgers Running Club, follows a five-mile route around the Bolton Abbey estate.

Everyone who takes part in the event this Friday evening will receive a bespoke medal designed by the Airedale Hospital-based club.

The saunter is being sponsored by JB Springs, of Skipton.

All proceeds will go to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Sue Ryder event lead, Andrew Wood, said: “We are grateful to the Airedale Dodgers and delighted that the event has sold out.

“We are still fielding lots of calls from people wishing to take part and are instead directing them to our next running event at Bolton Abbey, a 10k and 5k on August 4.” Visit sueryder.org/boltonabbey10K for details.

Another event taking place in support of Manorlands this weekend is a zip slide from the top of Lund’s Tower, at Sutton, on Saturday.

There is a £25 entry fee and participants are asked to raise at least £50 in sponsorship. Headline sponsors are Skipton Building Society and Mclarnon Electrical Installation.
