AN AGILITY course is being added to the popular dog show at Sutton Fun Day on Sunday.

The Crufts-style course, with hoops and ramps, will be in addition to the usual classes for most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, fancy-dress dog and best-dressed dog.

The fun day is as usual being held on Father’s Day, June 16, with festivities in Sutton Park beginning at noon and running through the afternoon.

The event is organised by Sutton Village Committee, with help from extra volunteers on the day, and proceeds go to village events throughout the year.

Chairman David Harrison-Young promised varied entertainment through the afternoon with 12 different sets of performers.

He said: “The dog agility course will be like a mini Crufts but will be for fun rather than competition.”

There will be stalls and games hosted by community groups and local craftspeople, and a tea tent. The funfair will continue until 6pm for older children and teenagers.

New this year will be a stall to commemorate D-Day, hosted by the Sutton Village Committee, to raise money for the Purple Poppies appeal for ‘animals of war’.

Admission will be by donation. Anyone willing to help on the day should contact the village committee via Facebook.
