KEIGHLEY College has one of the lowest gender pay gaps in the region.

The Bradford Road site – and Leeds City College, of which it is a part – recorded a 0.5 per cent median pay gap for last year.

Of the 1,280-plus staff at the colleges, just over 65 per cent are women.

Lydia Devenny – deputy chief executive of Luminate Education Group, formerly the Leeds City College Group – said: "We continue to pride ourselves on being an inclusive and diverse employer, demonstrated by our recent Investors in Diversity accreditation.

"We're confident that men and women are paid equally for doing the same job at the college."

Since last year, organisations with more than 250 employees have been required to report their gender pay gaps.

Latest figures show that the median pay gap in the public sector is 14.1 per cent, compared to a national average of 17.9 per cent across both the public and private sectors.
