MORSES Club has cracked the code to successful fundraising.

The company has received the Keighley BigK 10K top-fundraiser award for the second year running.

Teams from the Birstall firm together coined-in £5,000 through sponsorship in the event, on Mother's Day.

Among them was Stephen Jones, who had special reason for wanting to take part.

His late father was cared for at Manorlands, the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice which benefits from the proceeds.

"Not only did Manorlands help my dad during his final days but it provided bereavement counselling for mum and myself," said Mr Jones, who was just seven when his father was receiving treatment.

"They helped me to realise that I was not the only child going through the pain of losing a parent."

Mr Jones was joined in the Keighley BigK 10K by nine colleagues, together with two contractors and a supplier, who had travelled from Surrey.

The teams were thanked by Manorlands community fundraising manager, Andrew Wood.

"We are delighted that Morses Club has enthusiastically taken part in the BigK 10K event once again – raising £5,000 in sponsorship for such a great cause," he said.

"Each year we help over 850 people just like Stephen and his family, and this money makes a huge difference to us."
