FIFTEEN community groups in the Keighley area are sharing in a £37,000 council payout to help with running community buildings.

Keighley Area Committee, part of Bradford Council, has given around £2,500 to each of the groups responsible for community centres, village halls or other facilities. The grants will cover the current financial year, up to April 2020.

The committee voted to give identical amounts for the year 2020/21, subject to funding available in the main Bradford Council budget.

Groups that have received £2,500: Bracken Bank and District Community Association (Sue Belcher Centre), Dementia Friendly Keighley, Friends of Silsden Town Hall, Highfield Community Association, Keighley Association for Women and Children Centre, Long Lee and Thwaites Brow Action Committee Village Hall Committee, Oakworth Community Trust (former Holden Hall), Oxenhope Community Association, Roshni Ghar, Good Shepherd Centre, The Hive Silsden, Braithwaite People’s Association (Keith Thompson Centre), Star Youth Project.

Keighley Healthy Living will receive £2,090 and Hainworth Wood Community Centre will receive £2,335.
