A SPECIALIST team’s work with children across the district will be spotlighted next Thursday (Apr 25).

The monthly board meeting of Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust will hear about the service provided by the special needs school nursing team.

Currently the team works across nine schools, with children and young people who have complex health, disability and behavioural needs.

It supports and trains staff, creating bespoke care plans for the youngsters and helping arrange access to short-break facilities.

Team leader, Sally Newsome, says: “Our service works hard to ensure children with complex needs from Bradford and Keighley have access to education equal to that of any other child.

“We undertake many different training packages to ensure the children – and those taking care of them – feel confident and safe, working hard to support them in accessing the specialist provision and services they require to lead a full and healthy life.”

Care trust staff and the public are invited to attend the meeting, at the trust headquarters in New Mill, Victoria Road, Saltaire, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

The meeting will also discuss the trust’s upcoming priorities and there will be a report from the chief executive and a monthly look at performance.
