REPAIRS and renovations are due to start on the Keighley Town Council-owned civic centre, in North Street.

Councillors and members of the public were updated on the state of the building at the Keighley Annual Town Meeting yesterday evening. (April 15)

Cllr Shazad Mahmood, chairman of the Civic Centre and Strategy Committee, said: "We've now got three tenants in the civic centre – including the MP's office – and we have another interested party, so could have four tenants soon.

"As well as trying to get more income for the centre, there is quite a lot of work that needs doing because it's an old building.

"Work on the boiler is beginning tomorrow and new roofing is going to start being fitted later this month.

"We are also updating IT systems in the building and we will carry out some additional decorative work to make the property more attractive to future tenants."
