FAMILIES were thrilled by a pair of spectacular performances laid on by pupils and staff from Sutton Community Primary School.
More than 60 children from years three and four delighted their audiences with a show called "Dragon!", staged at Glusburn Institute.
It tells the story of Princess Poppy’s quest for a dragon. Her villainous suitor, Arkamir, has killed the only dragon in the Kingdom of Freenia. As the local food chain falls into chaos without its top predator, Poppy sets off to find another dragon.
But Arkamir tries to foil her mission by sending his incompetent servants, Rogil and Murk, in pursuit.
Sutton CP head teacher Fiona Beetles said: "Given the chance to take to a ‘real’ stage the children outdid themselves, performing with characteristic confidence and enthusiasm.
"There were two performance, one for the school and one for parents.
"The singing and dancing was great and the audiences could hear every word from our young actors.
"Well done to everyone involved, staff and parents alike. Special thanks to the team at Glusburn Institute, who once again made us so welcome."
She said teachers Emily Whitehead, Lee Jones and Julia Forster were among the school staff involved with co-ordinating the show.
