A BUILDING society has given a helping hand to Haworth Riding for the Disabled (RDA).

The Yorkshire Building Society has handed-over £800, from its charitable foundation.

The money will help pay for new riding equipment and helmets.

Chloe Emmerson, the building society's Keighley branch manager, said: "Our charitable foundation is proud to support causes such as Haworth RDA.

"I nominated the group for a donation after volunteering last year and seeing the amazing work the team does.

"It has such a positive impact on the people using its services that I wanted to provide as much support as possible."

Jane Lawrence, fundraiser at Haworth RDA, said the charity was delighted to receive the "incredibly generous" donation and thanked the society.

The charity was established in 2001 with one rider, one pony and three volunteers.

It now caters for over 160 riders, and has more than 40 volunteers and ten specially-trained horses.

The team provides people with physical and learning disabilities horse riding and stable management lessons throughout the year.

Yorkshire Building Society's charitable foundation is funded through a Small Change Big Difference scheme, in which members donate pennies from the interest on their accounts.
