The Rotary Club of Keighley and Dementia Friendly Keighley (DFK) will join forces to sing Christmas carols and songs in the Airedale Shopping Centre this coming Saturday. (Dec 15)
From 1pm the DFK volunteers will be joined by the Rotary Club of Keighley and regulars from Keighley’s singing group for people with dementia and their carers - "The Singing Teapot".
A DFK spokesman said: "It's well known that singing makes positive changes to body chemistry, which in turn directly improves our physical and mental health.
"If we throw in the added dynamic of group singing you get a real feel good factor.
"So what better way to start the countdown to Christmas by joining us and sharing in that pleasure?
"Helping the songs to go with a swing will be ukulele players and a fiddler. Any other musicians who'd like to come and perform are most welcome."
DFK will also be selling home-made buns and cakes, Christmas crafts and will run a tombola.
All money raised from their sale will go towards supporting DFK’s work in Keighley and the surrounding area.
DFK’s base at the shopping centre's 29 Brunswick Arcade will be open during the afternoon and volunteers and staff will be on hand to provide information, advice or a listening ear.
For more information, DFK can be contacted via e-mail at info@dementiafriendlykeighley.org.uk or on 07452 773788.
