AN Oakworth man is taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for Manorlands.

It's Adam Brunskill's fifth marathon, but his first in the capital.

The 31-year-old conservatory installer has secured a place in the April 28 event through Sue Ryder, and aims to raise £2,000 for the charity's Oxenhope hospice.

"London is the 'dream' marathon and I'm delighted to be taking part," said Adam, who took-up running about six years ago.

"This is the first time I've done a marathon for charity.

"Manorlands is an amazing local cause which does so much good work and it needs funds.

"I know a lot of people who have received care from the hospice, and I wanted to provide some support."

Adam has set-up an online fundraising page, at justgiving.com/fundraising/adam-brunskill2.

And he is planning an event, in February, to further boost funds.

The Sue Ryder Speakeasy Sponsor Night is taking place at Keighley rugby union club, in Skipton Road, Utley, on February 16, at 7.30pm.

Acclaimed band Miss Kiddy and the Cads will perform.

"They give a 1920s/30s slant to songs from across the years and there's spectacular tap dancing – it's a top, unique act!" said Adam.

"The event promises to be a great way to celebrate Valentine's weekend."

There will also be food, a raffle and disco.

Tickets are £25.
