STAFF and students at Keighley College have paid a special tribute to a former coaching tutor.

They raised over £1,700 for Manorlands in memory of Katie Buchanan, who died earlier this year.

She had received care from the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

College staff members Andrea Dean and Sarah Newton completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in July, coining-in cash through sponsorship.

And other activities included a race night and various events staged by students.

Sue Ryder community fundraising manager, Andrew Wood, thanked everyone for their support.

“It is fantastic that the staff and students have pulled together to raise so much in memory of their friend Katie,” he said.

“It is only thanks to support such as this that we can continue providing more care for more people when they need us most.”

The college has now signed-up to the Manorlands £50 challenge, and will be raising further funds until the competition finishes at the end of February.
