DISTRICT staff from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have given another boost to Manorlands.

They have presented £1,782 to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice after staging a series of activities.

Events culminated with a sixth annual football tournament.

Half a dozen teams took part in the TOBY Cup.

Reigning champions Bradford Debt Centre just missed out on claiming a third consecutive title, losing 3-0 in the final to Eastbrook Court.

Other teams taking part included Westfield House, Bradford Service Centre, DWP all-stars and debutant NHS Leeds.

The tournament is held in memory of Tom O'Brien, a former DWP employee who died at Manorlands six years ago.

Other fundraising activities included a cake stall, dress down day and raffle.

And staff member Mina Dhokia took part in a 'TOBY Splash' at Pudsey Swimming Pool, completing 70 lengths in one hour and ten minutes and raising over £1,000.

Thanks were expressed to Goals Bradford, which hosted the football tournament, and all those who donated raffle prizes.

Tribute is paid by Manorlands fundraiser Harriet Wood.

"We’re so grateful to all the staff and teams that took part in this year's TOBY Cup – not to mention Mina Dhokia for completing another tough TOBY Splash!" she said.

"The funds raised through this event will help us to continue to provide the crucial care and services needed, not just within the hospice but out in the community as well."
