EAST MORTON is hosting special events to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, including a performance of words and song, both light and serious, to honour the Tommies who fought from 1914 to 1918.

The presentation by St Luke’s Church Choir and Friends is in the Memorial Institute at 2pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 including refreshments. Tickets are on sale by calling 07908 517320. Proceeds will be shared between church and the Royal British Legion.

There will be a children’s fun afternoon in the Institute on Sunday from 2-5pm. Families can make their own medals, make a poppy or wreath, try quizzes and puzzles, or play old-time games. Refreshments will be on offer. A display of First World War documents will be in the Institute during both events.
