A PAIR of sponsored, scenic walks on the moors outside Haworth will be staged for a second year to support a charity which helps people with cancer.

People are invited to dust off their wellies and whip out their waterproofs for the 2018 Withens Welly Walk event, which takes place on Saturday November 10, in aid of Keighley & Airedale Cancer Support.

People wanting to take part should meet for registration at 9.30am on the day at the Old Sun Hotel, in Haworth's West Lane.

The longer walk route will take fundraisers all the way to Top Withens and back – a distance of seven and a half miles. This starts at 10am.

There is also a shorter, five-mile route to the Bronte Waterfalls and back, beginning at 10.15am.

A spokesman for the Withens Welly Walk organisers said: "People will need to bring their own food and drink for the walk, wear a sturdy pair of wellies or walking shoes, and appropriate clothing.

"Friendly well behaved dogs are welcome, which must be kept on leads at all times. Children are also welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

"These will be guided walks, therefore it’s important to arrive at the registration time of 9.30am."

Organisers are asking for entry donations of £10 per adult and £5 per child, with an option for each walker to raise further sums through sponsorship.
