MEMBERS of the third largest workforce in the NHS staged a celebration at Airedale Hospital.
Staff from the allied health professionals (AHPs) marked the first national day dedicated to the sector.
AHPs comprise 14 different professions, including occupational and speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, operating department practitioners, radiographers and paramedics.
They work both within the hospital and in the community.
The celebration included tea and cake.
And a new strategy was launched.
Among those present was Jill Asbury, the hospital's director of nursing.
She said: "AHPs are a largely untapped set of professionals with enormous talent.
"I was glad to be part of the event and I hope that we can repeat this every year."
Therapy services manager, Freya Sledding, said it was important to recognise the "depth and variety" of allied health professionals roles.
"We carry out such a broad range of duties and make a difference to all areas of people's lives so it's good to celebrate what we achieve," she added.
