PEOPLE are invited to don their scariest outfits and take part in one or both of two Halloween parades due to be staged in Haworth this weekend.

This coming Saturday (Oct 27) is Dragon Day with a procession up the street led by Rachel Hyde. And the following day is the Parade of Ghouls.

Both weekend Halloween marches will start at 2pm at the bottom of Haworth Main Street.

As in previous years, Haworth's Ye Sleeping House bed and breakfast is mounting an impressively spooky display outside its premises.

Various venues around the village are joining in with the ghastly festivities, with Haworth Old Hall hosting a "Day of the Dead" themed night from 7pm on Saturday. This will feature fancy dress, a Mexican menu, and a DJ.

Saturday also includes "Rock Fright" – a night of rock 'n' roll at the new Industry Barista lifestyle lounge, in Mill Hey. People can come in fancy dress from 6pm and entry is free.

That same evening will feature a Halloween costume party at the Old Sun, in West Lane. It runs from 9pm till late with a £50 first prize on offer.

Haworth West Lane Baptist Church is holding a pumpkin carving festival from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday October 31.

People are asked to bring their own pumpkins along. Pumpkin soup and toast will be on offer during the evening.

Also from 5pm to 7pm next Wednesday, (Oct 31) there will be Halloween Storytelling at Cobbles and Clay, in Main Street.

This will be presented by Shrikant Subramaniam, who will tell stories through spoken word, poetry, dance and music. Tickets are £5 and people can visit the cafe or call 01535 958961 to reserve a place.
