A KEIGHLEY charity which saves abandoned and stray cats is staging a sale to support its efforts to reduce numbers of unwanted felines in the district.

The two-week sale has begun at Keighley Cat Care’s shop in Cavendish Retail Park, and runs until November 3. The shop opens on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.

Proceeds will go towards the charity’s assisted neutering initiative, which helps people who could not otherwise afford to have their pets neutered.

Charity volunteer Trish Armistead said: “Our bric-a-brac items are half price and clothing is 50p an item. Not only do we want to keep the neutering scheme going, but people have been so generous with donating Christmas goods, and we want to make room for those.

“So far we’ve had over 450 neuterings carried out as part of the assisted initiative. The minimum donation for each procedure has gone up to £20, but we still think it’s reasonable, especially for people with more than one cat.”

Keighley Cat Care launched the assisted neutering last August.

Owners struggling to pay the full amount needed for the procedure can approach the charity, then have the operation carried out at one of Aireworth Vet’s branches, in return for the minimum donation.

White Cross Vets in Eccleshill, Bradford, is also signed up to the initiative.
