PENSIONERS from two communities are being treated to Christmas lunch.

Keighley town councillor Michael Westerman is using part of his £2,000 Morton and Sandbeds ward fund to provide a festive feast.

Lunches will be staged at the Busfeild Arms, East Morton, on December 17 and 18.

Thirty people of pensionable age, living in the ward, will be catered for each day.

"Whenever the town council has put on Christmas lunches in Keighley they've always been very popular and fully booked," said Cllr Westerman.

"Residents from my ward have sometimes missed out, so I thought why not bring Christmas to them!

"I'm extremely grateful to the Busfeild Arms, which is hosting the lunches at a subsidised rate during what will be a busy period for them.

"The lunches are open to any pensioner in the ward, but places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis and must be booked in advance through myself – not directly with the pub."
