SOUTH Craven residents are being given a chance to remember loved ones at a special Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance in Sutton.

Churches in Sutton, Cowling and Lothersdale are inviting anyone who has lost a loved one to attend the service on Sunday, November 4 at 3pm at St Thomas’s Church in Sutton.

The names of all those commemorated will be read, and there will be the opportunity to light an individual candle for each person remembered.

The Rev Helen Collings, who is the vicar of Sutton with Cowling and Lothersdale, said life could be difficult for people who had lost a loved one.

She said: “Once the funeral is over, it can seem like the world moves on whilst the bereaved, naturally, continue in grief. In the past, people have found this opportunity to remember and give thanks very helpful.

“I would encourage anyone from the local area who would like to come along. They would be made very welcome.”
