DOZENS of people raised hundreds for Manorlands by taking part in a fitness contest at a Keighley gym.

They competed in the event at NR Gym, in Worth Way, on September 15, raising a total of £650 for the hospice. The proceeds were collected by Manorlands community fundraiser Liv Moffat.

The competition saw members and past members of the gym participate in a series of team and individual challenges using the facility's equipment.

NR Gym personal trainer James Butterfield said: "The event was a huge success, with nine teams taking part in a number of challenges.

"The winning team, called 'Be More John', was captained by Belinda Moody, whose late husband John Stokes received care at Manorlands before sadly passing earlier this year.

"The money raised on the day was from entry fees, donations from our gym members and also a cake sale.

"Staff members from the gym took part alongside members, much to the amusement of all!

"It was the first time we'd done this, but the event will definitely be an annual fixture on our calendar in future."
