EY ‘up, there is finally a Tyke rival to the might of heavy metal legends AC/DC!

‘Highway To Hull’ specialise in a highly-charged portrayal of the famous British heavy metal group in their prime.

The tribute band’s musicians include Mick ‘The Metal’ Walsh, who has been performing around Keighley for decades since starting out in thrash metal bands.

The rhythm guitarist takes the stage with his fellow loud-and-proud Yorkshiremen at Bingley Arts Centre on October 5. The audience can expect classic songs such as ‘Highway to Hell’, ‘Back in Black’, ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ and ‘Thunderstruck’.

This will be Highway To Hull’s biggest gig of the year, as they continue their most successful period since starting out more than 10 years ago.

A spokesman for the band said: “We headlined at a few successful outdoor events, including the Harley Davidson Weekend in Baildon, the Tour de Yorkshire in Ilkley, and charity events at Knaresborough.

“That’s when we realised we can create so much more of the sound and atmosphere of an AC/DC gig at bigger events.

“In January we played at the Guiseley Theatre, and as you’d expect with a full sound and lighting crew, we were able to recreate that big-venue experience.

“As Guiseley sold out, we had to look again for a theatre with a greater capacity for the next big stage gig.”

Highway play a huge amount of the AC/DC back catalogue and regularly mix things up between older and newer material, ensuring regular fans are not always hearing the same songs.

The group is made up of Mick, singer Charley ‘Otto’ Cunz, founder member and drummer Matthew Wildman, and former member Malcolm Moorhouse, who has now rejoined to play bass. Andrew Steele, from Huddersfield, is the most recent member to join.

Highway To Hull promise a special guest to perform with them in Bingley, and a good-quality support act. Visit bingleyartscentre.co.uk to book tickets.
