WEST END performers are returning to Glusburn to teach another musical theatre workshop.

Professional actors Gemma Pipe and Will Breckin, of Theatre Works Academy, will lead the session for children aged five to 18 at Glusburn Arts Centre.

The workshop will focus on material from West End musicals Les Miserables and Cats, with the youngsters learning exact choreography and staging from the shows.

The workshop will be at the Arts Centre, also known as Glusburn Institute, on October 14 from 3pm to 6pm.

The cost will be £15 per person and children will be looking at material from Cats and Les Miserables, learning exact choreography and staging from the shows.

Arts Centre spokesman Sarah Golding said: “Gemma and Will will be coaching on vocals, acting, performance and dance technique from professional experience.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for children to work with professionals from the West End and UK number one touring shows.”

Will recently performed in the professional version of musical Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing Zebulon and understudying at Joseph.

Gemma toured in Joseph in 2016 as performer, dance captain and assistant to the director. She is also formed in musicals Legally Blonde and The Addams Family.

Gemma and Will held their inaugural session at Glusburn Arts Centre in May this year, returning soon afterwards due to its popularity.

Past sessions focused on musicals Matilda and Mamma Mia.

Gemma said: “During the first workshop we were really impressed with the level of talent and energy. We worked on two pieces, Broadway musical ‘Hairspray’ and feature film and musical ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

“In our workshops we always use the exact choreography and directions from the shows, so we were thrilled to see everyone do such a great job! We always give parents a chance to see what we have worked on.”

Les Misérables, based on the 1862 by Victor Hugo and set in strife-torn early 19th-century France, has been massive worldwide hit since it premiered in 1980. Songs include On My Own, I Dream Daydream and One Day More.

Cats, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, premiered in 1981 and ran for 21 years.
