SIR - Bradford Council planners have refused an application for a large digital billboard on one of the city's busiest highways (Westgate), and rightly so (T&A, September 2).

These boards are hugely distracting to motorists and it could be argued are quite dangerous.

Unfortunately there are already a number of similar billboards around the city, often on busy roads and junctions.

Just why these were ever agreed is hard to understand. They are totally inappropriate in so many of these sanctioned locations and are particularly distracting. Common sense has not always prevailed.
