SIR - There have been calls for harder-hitting danger driver campaigns after a rise in the number of serious crashes in Bradford (T&A, April 6).
However, the main problem in my view is the weak sentences currently being handed down by the local judiciary, far too often being suspended sentences.
Some years ago the then top judge at Bradford Crown Court vowed that danger drivers who ignored blue lights would be jailed.
Sadly this appears to rarely be the case any more.
Until much harsher sentences are handed down the carnage on our roads, and the dangerous driving, will no doubt continue unabated despite the excellent work of the Police's Steerside team.
