SIR - The T&A report (April 3) that girls and young women are regularly heckled and "overly sexualised" in areas of Bradford city centre is no real surprise to anyone who ever visits those parts of the city.
You can visit these areas both during the day and in the evening, and it is rare to ever see any sort of police presence. No wonder there is such a feeling of discomfort.
This will sadly continue until there are regular patrols throughout that area by both uniformed police and, importantly, by plain clothed officers.
At the moment one simply does not want to visit because there are too many undesirables round every corner who seem to be able to go unchecked.
City of Culture beware!
