SIR - Lord Adonis is reported to have said the latest rail plan is a ‘fairy tale’.
This.is a view shared by more than Lord Adonis. The Prime Minister claims Bradford will benefit sooner rather than later from his scrapping of HS2. Time will tell.
So what can be done? As I have previously proposed cross rail Bradford is a cheaper option and one that could be delivered in the next five years. It involves a heavy rail link between the two existing Bradford stations. This would provide additional capacity and could take some of the pressure off Leeds station. It would also provide cross Bradford rail services for Airedale and Wharfedale.
