SIR - In response to George Harrison's letter (T&A May 13) he suggests putting a 'beware camera van' about 500 metres ahead. The new cameras can have a range of one mile. On one of the TV police shows an officer said by the time you see the camera it will have already seen your car and calculated the speed.
Over the past three or four days the Telegraph & Argus has reported on drivers that have been caught speeding over 80 miles per hour, mainly on the Fred Hoyle way. The maximum speed limit on motorways is 70 mph so I don't believe if you put signs up the offenders would take any notice.
Approximately five people a day are killed on our roads through speeding cars.
