Bradford's Kirkgate Shopping Centre is to be demolished
SIR - I have read the T&A article on the council's plan to demolish the Kirkgate Centre and build a city village.
It says it is intended to build up to 1,000 homes. Looking at the area the shopping centre currently occupies, I would have to take it these would be in the form of high rise flats. There is no clarification of whether flats or houses.
There was also a map of the city centre with an area outlined in red. Does this indicate that the area inside the red would be the city village? If this is the case, it appears it won't be just the Kirkgate centre being demolished, it would be every other building. In essence the city centre would go.
What are the actual intentions for the city?
