SIR - The Travel Alliance doesn’t want the £48m Bradford-Shipley road scheme ‘scrapped’ (T&A, August 12).
Instead, we want that cash spent to replace some car trips by public transport, cycling and transport. We are supported by car drivers who would like less traffic on the roads.
Contrast that investment for road-widening with the budget for traffic calming measures, just £135,000 this year (T&A, August 9). The Council’s own policy demands greatly reduced pollution to save health and climate. Let’s just do it.
