SIR - The agreement by Bradford Council planners for new houses on the edge of Crossflatts Cricket Club's pitch, also bearing in mind that functions are held in the clubhouse which has a licence until 2am, simply beggars belief. Is there no-one within the Council with any common sense at all?

It is obvious that this permission will result in ball strikes and noise complaints, all of which could and should have been avoided if alternative plans, not directly adjacent, had been agreed.

This threat to the cricket club should simply not be allowed to proceed.

Indeed, any future complaints about noise or ball strikes should not be entertained bearing in mind that the club has existed there for many years.

It is all just another example of the ridiculous way our hopeless Council operates.
