SIR - I see that 90-year-old former paratrooper from Bingley, Jeffrey Long MBE is again setting off on one of his fundraising walks (T&A, April 18).
Why hasn't anyone nominated this man for a Knighthood? I feel he is as worthy if not more worthy than that of 'Captain Tom'.
Mr Longs fundraising walks over a number of years do not seem to attract the hype and national publicity as awarded to the short term efforts of Capt. Tom. Maybe he lacks the backing of a good PR team.
In any event as far as I'm concerned,well done Mr Long and keep on walking.
