ASHLANDS Primary School in Leeds Road, Ilkley, has buried a time capsule with memories and thoughts about the Covid 19 pandemic lockdowns.

The time capsule was kindly made by Ilkley based Spooners Engineering. A school spokesperson thanked Spooners and said: “The idea is that in many years to come someone will dig up the metal container and be able to read about what we thought and felt during these uncertain times.”

Headteacher Andrew Soutar added: “The time capsule captured the imagination of many of our children. All children, some staff and parents made contributions to be read perhaps 100 years in the future. The opportunity to put down your thoughts was great for our children’s wellbeing and they enjoyed the chance to do it back in school.”

The position of where the time capsule is buried is recorded in school along details of another capsule on site.
