THE Ilkley Clean River Campaign group is holding a public meeting on March 10 to discuss plans for improving the water quality in the River Wharfe in Ilkley.

It takes place online from 5pm to 6.30pm and follows the successful campaign to have a section of the river in the town designated as bathing status.

The open public meeting will cover: the proposals for cleaning up the river at Ilkley - specifically the impact of the new partnership announced by Yorkshire Water and Bradford Council; the implications of securing designated bathing status for Ilkley - how the agencies are responding; the results of the whole river testing and what that means for cleaning up the whole river Wharfe and the impact of new legislation.

The meeting will be attended by Ilkley’s MP Robbie Moore and Ilkley Town Mayor Mark Stidworthy. Invites have also gone to Cllr Alex Ross-Shaw, of Bradford Council, Martin Christmas, of the Environment Agency, and Richard Emmott, director corporate affairs at Yorkshire Water, to share and explain their proposals for cleaning up the river.
