TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of Ann Carr, one of the founder members of Menston Art Club in the 1960s.

Current chair of Menston Art Club Judith Tomlinson said: “Ann Carr was until the end of last year still an active and enthusiastic member of the club. Sadly Ann, aged 93, died on the 18 October.

“Ann was a truly complete and dedicated artist turning her skills to many and varied branches of art. She taught life drawing, one of the most challenging of skills, with great panache, for many years. She supported Menston Art Club in many roles, one of the most notable being the head of the hanging committee. Her leadership of this group was always decisive constructive and educational and totally fair to all entries. She always encouraged beginners and found time to help anyone struggling to improve.

“She didn’t just confine her activities to art only, she enjoyed both golf and tennis and enjoyed many happy holidays with family and friends in Portugal.

“Ann will be greatly missed by her friends at Menston Art Club. Her funeral is on November 5. Our condolences to family and friends.”
