BEN Rhydding Primary School pupil, seven-year-old Ava Ormrod has raised nearly £250 for her school PTA.

It all started with a school project, during the first lockdown, with pupils challenged by their teacher to do something 100 times. Ava decided to plant 100 seeds. With plants to spare, Ava decided to sell plants to her neighbours on St John’s Rd in Ben Rhydding to raise funds for her school. This continued over the summer with Ava selling all sorts of plants and spare produce from her garden. Ava set up a stall on her driveway at weekends to sell to her neighbours and passers by.

Ava’s parents Rob and Ruth Ormrod said: “Ava really enjoyed rising money for her school and it was a great way to catch up with neighbours socially distanced. We would like to thank everyone who bought something and supported her.”

St John’s Road is becoming well known for its charity events following the marathon run during lockdown and is part of the upcoming Ben Rhydding Halloween Trail this weekend and Santa run planned next month.
