ROTARY Club of Ilkley Wharfedale member Derek Richards has visited Airedale Hospital to hand over £2,500.

The money will be spent on the Staff Rest and Recuperation Areas within the Steeton hospital.

Derek raised the money in aid of the 50:50 Campaign of Airedale Hospital and Community Charity following a serious brush with the Covid-19 virus early in March.

After being treated in Airedale Hospital Derek was able to regain enough strength by June to complete a 50 mile sponsored walk.

His initial fundraising target was £500 but this turned out to be a conservative estimate.

After all the money was counted and Gift Aid accounted for, the Rotary Club, through the joint efforts of Derek and Evie (his faithful dog), was able to present Airedale Hospital’s fundraising manager Jodie Hearnshaw with the amazing sum of £2,500.
